Common Questions
QOur house has lath and plaster, not drywall. Can you still work on it?
Yes. Plaster repair is different work than drywall — the thickness is different, it is brittle, and it keys into wood or metal lath behind it. We can either patch in plaster to keep it original, or cut out the failed section and fill with drywall built up to the same thickness so the wall reads flat. We will tell you which makes sense for your wall.
QWe had a fire. Can you handle the rebuild?
We handle the drywall and paint portion of a fire rebuild — removing smoke-damaged board, sealing the framing so odor does not come back through the new finish, and rebuilding walls and ceilings. Structural repair and smoke remediation are separate specialties and we will tell you when you need those first rather than boarding over a problem.
QHow long does a ceiling repair take?
A patch is normally three visits over about four to five days: cut out and board on day one, two coats of mud with drying time between, then texture and paint. Joint compound has to dry fully between coats — rushing it is exactly why patches show through later. If somebody quotes you a finished ceiling repair in a single day, ask them how.
QDo you serve Alpine, Ramona and the back country?
Yes, on scheduled work. For a multi-day job out there we are happy to make the drive. For a single small patch we will usually ask to schedule it alongside other East County work that week so you are not paying for the windshield time.
